RE: 2007 Hyundai Elantra

I tow a 2007 Hyundai Elantra with an automatic trans. I checked with the dealer when I purchased the car and it cannot be towed 4 down. I tow mine using a car dolly. No problem that way.

RE: 12 volt dc tripping

Finally got around to replacing the solenoid on my motorhome and it works perfectly. When I press the switch now the coach batteries disconnect (can hear the solenoid click when it operates). Press the switch again and the coach batteries connect. Great to have it working and hopefully this will fix the tripping problem too. Thanks for all the help/advice from you people on this forum. It was a great help in solving my problem.

RE: Sandy Oaks RV Resort

Thanks for the replies. I had read about the power lines in the RV Park Reviews that MichDoc mentioned. I guess the problem with the power lines would be the constant hum from them. Am I guessing right?

State and Federal Parks

During my search for a park to stay in during the winter of 2009/2010 I came across some state / federal parks in Florida. How do these parks compare to the private parks price wise, amenities etc? Also any recommendations / reviews on any of these parks? Thanks

Any reviews of this park?

While doing some research on parks in Florida I came across this one:
Lake Deaton RV Park, Wildwood, FL. I am having trouble finding any reviews on this park.
Anyone stay at this park before or know anything about it?
If so, can you please let me know some details on it such as, amenities, cleanliness, activities, wireless internet, nearby places, etc.
Thanks in advance.

RE: RV Parks - Florida West Coast

Thanks for all the replies.
This is what we are looking for. We are not familiar with the area at all - never been there. We are checking it out on the internet but it is a little overwhelming because of the number of parks and not knowing anything about the area. We find it better if we hear from people who have used the parks and know the area. We will certainly check out the towns and parks mentioned here.
We are interested in hearing about any town or campground so that we can try and narrow it down to a specific area.

RV Parks - Florida West Coast

We are going to be spending our first winter in the southern US (Oct/Nov 2009 to Mar/Apr 2010) and after all the research, suggestions, etc we have decided to try the west coast of Florida for our first year. Having narrowed it down (I think) to this area we are now looking for some advice and suggestions from rvers who have stayed in this area rv parks. We are looking for parks with a 5 to 6 month rate - not top of the line but not the parks with no amenities either - somewhere in the middle $$$$.
Any suggestions and info on what part and what parks in this area would be greatly appreciated.

RE: 12 volt dc tripping

Update on my dc problem:
Checked out the switch, it only has 2 wires on it and the switch checked out ok with my meter. Called Coachman and the service person advised that the switch, when pushed, activates a solenoid which operates each time the switch is pushed. If dc is on the solenoid opens and if dc is off the solenoid closes. He told me where the solenoid was located and that there were 2 5 amp fuses on the solenoid. I located the solenoid excately where he said it was and checked the fuses - they were ok. Called Coachman back and explained this to the service person and he informed me that the solenoid was stuck and that I would need a new solenoid. He told me the name that was on the solenoid and I got the number of the solenoid so that I could order one. I called the company that manufactures the solenoid and explained the wiring on it and they will ship one to me on Monday.
Let me say here that this was my first time contacting Coachman since I purchased my motorhome and I am quite pleased with the service. It was quite easy to get to talk to a service person, no waiting time at all, and each time he was very knowledgeable, courteous and pleasant to talk to. Also, the company (KIB) I ordered the solenoid from was great to deal with and told me what solenoid I had just from my explanation of the wires on it.
All in all I am quite pleased with my first contact with Coachman - good job!

RE: Rookie wanabe snowbirds

We want warm weather and by reasonable rate I mean something in the middle range, not to cheap as to have no ammenities, but not top of the line either.
Great list of parks there fchammer1. Will start checking them out.
Would be most interested in Florida and Texas (warm winter parts).
Hey pawatt can you give me some names of parks in the Rio Grande Valley that you would recommend so I can check them out online. Also, what are the Canadian owned parks?
The problem is that just checking the parks online does not mean that the park will be suitable when we get there as we all know how advertizing works. I would like to hear from some rvers who have stayed in some of the parks as they would be able to rate the parks and recommend or let me know of any problems (noise, atmosphere, cleaniness, amenities, etc).
And alfredmay nothing warms you like a gallon of screech lol

Rookie wanabe snowbirds

Hi all
We purchased a 2004 Coachman Sportscheck Elite 40' motorhome in May of this year. We are retiring in the fall of 2009 and are selling our home and becoming full time rvers. We are planning on spending the summers in Ontario with our son and grandkids and spending our winters in the southern US.
I have been doing some research on some rv parks/resorts in the southern US as we are hoping to book one for October/November 2008 to March/April 2009. There are so many resorts/rates its hard to pick one. We need your help in deciding which ones to check out.
This is gonna be all new to us and we are full of question and seeking any info any of you experienced snowbirds can offer us.
What would be the best state/area to stay in for the winter?
Can you recommend any parks/resorts with a reasonable rate?
What about mail, etc?
Do we need any special permits/visa etc to stay in the US for a 6 month period?
What about health insurance?
There are plenty of other questions/doubts going through our minds as this is a big step for us to take.
Any advice/info etc that you can give us would be greatly appreciated.
